Details Complex dynamics of various self-propelled multi-element systems has been studied through combinations of experiments, data-analysis and mathematical modeling. In particular, the roles of fluctuation and the diversity in individual systems have carefully been investigated, and some basic mechanisms shared by different systems have been uncovered.
