概要 This study conducts a bifurcation analysis of dune shape transitions using a simplified model called the Dune Skeleton model. It reveals how different dune shapes form under unidirectional wind conditions. The analysis shows that reducing the total sand amount or increasing lateral sand flow causes a stable straight transverse dune to change into a wavy transverse dune via a pitchfork bifurcation. Further reduction leads the wavy transverse dune to transform into barchan dunes through a Hopf bifurcation. These bifurcation patterns clarify the mechanisms behind dune shape changes driven by wind and sand dynamics.
