概要 | Nanofiber electrocatalysts for polymer electrode fuel cells has been proposed in recent years. In this study, we analyzed material transfer rate and electrode reaction rate in the nanofiber catalyst layer using rotating disk electrode. Carbon alloy nanofiber was examined for a cathode catalyst. We focused on effects of the fiber length and catalyst loading on the catalyst layer activity. The transport situation was discontinuously changed at a higher loading amount of relatively long catalysts. The material transfer rate was increased at higher catalyst loading with longer nanofibers. This phenomena is explained by the difference of layer structure between the fiber catalyst and the particle-like catalyst. Relatively long (6.9 mu m, for example) catalyst with catalyst loading at around 1 mg cm(-2) is appropriate condition of catalyst layer because of its high material transfer rate inside the catalyst layer. |
