概要	The paper investigates the transition of acting style in eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century England through the historical analysis of acting handbooks, oratory handbooks and theatre reviews. The main contention is that acting in the period, of which the goal is the faithful representation of passions, shifted its emphasis from neoclassical articulation to romantic synthesis.
