概要	This study clarifies the process by which scientific air defense research was conducted by architectural researchers and the results were developed into policy. First, with the emergence of the air raid threat, architectural researchers did not leave the task to the military, but took it up as their own. Then, they applied their architectural expertise to develop theoretical and empirical approaches to air defense studies with public funding and the cooperation of the military. Architectural researchers were also active in the government and the military, functioning as the driving force behind the smooth implementation of research findings into policy.
