Details | In Middle English romances, the aspect of racial identity which can be marked by physical features is not fixed but fluid, changeable, and closely connected with cultural identity. This article aims to analyse the representation of Saracens in several Middle English romances to show how the physical depiction of racial identity is intertwined with religion and thus understood as something to be proved through one's deeds and words. |
