Details | As social enterprises (SEs) are quite diverse, the author made a hypothesis that fundraising issues of SEs depend on their types and development stages.
The purpose of this study is to examine what fundraising issues SEs have and what kind of services SEs need depending on their types and development stages. This study categorized SEs into four types: social innovation, nonprofit, worker cooperatives and WISE (Worker Integration Social Enterprise). It picked up 15 organizations including SEs and infrastructure organizations for SEs in the US. The author conducted in-depth interviews with the managers of the organizations. Findings: The fundraising issues SEs are facing are never homogenous but quite diverse depending on their types and stages. Available and desirable funding sources are also different. |
