Details | The present study investigated an effectiveness of the Rorschach Mutuality of Autonomy (MOA) Scale (Urist, 1977) in the psychopathological assessment. The sample consisted of 49 patients with anxiety disorders, 43 with schizophrenia, 20 with borderline personality disorder, and 161 non-patients. Both the borderline personality disorder and schizophrenic groups had significantly higher MOA scores that reflects pathological tendencies than the other groups. The anxiety disorder group indicated a higher frequency of protocols classified in moderate MOA level that suggests avoidant or dependent interpersonal behavior pattern. MOA detected a significant difference between several types of psychopathology group in terms of an individual's internal representations of interpersonal interactions, that is, object relations. Implications of these findings are discussed in relation to an effectiveness of MOA in the psychopathological assessment. |
