Details | This paper proposes a realization method of fast and dependable PLCs (programmable logic controllers). Many functions in PLCs consist of combinations of logic instructions. We can express them using logic functions. Meanwhile all four-variable logic functions are classified into 222 equivalence classes by the NPN-equivalence relation. We store their 222 functions into a memory block by a truth table. We call it ``4-input universal logic memory (4-ULM)". We propose high-speed PLC emulators having many 4-ULMs (4-input universal logic, which can emulate PLCs with just memory accessing. We can realize 100--200 times faster PLC emulators than a commercial PLC. This paper also proposes how to realize the dependability. |
