概要	Reflecting the recent trend of information and communication technology (ICT) use in organisations centred on "monitor and control", the participatory surveillance environment has emerged. With the growth of such a socio-technological environment, individuals have come under 24/7 monitoring by both human and electronic eyes, and ICT-based black-box systems for real-time control over individual activities have been constructed and operated. Here, "black box" implies (a) ICT-based information systems operated by organisations have treated (potential) individual customers as black boxes which are expected to show a certain response to a certain set of inputs (usually information), and (b) ICT-based information systems are themselves becoming black boxes due to the incorporation of cutting-edge ICT including AI. In this keynote address, I'll discuss the benefits and risks of such black box systems and corporate social responsibility for the development and usage of those systems.
