Details The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of learning diary in a university’s voluntary English-speaking session. The learning diary system, which is sometimes called reflective journal, is frequently viewed as a practical and effective tool to assess, diagnose, and monitor students’ learning especially in tertiary education. The participants were seven students who applied to an extra-curricular English-speaking session at university. Keeping a diary helped them reflect on how they felt and what they learned in the session and connect their learning to their past and future experiences. The paper concludes by offering suggestions for instructions and future research.
