Presentation Theme | Applicability of DSS to Internalization Phase of the SECI Model |
Presentation Type | Speech (General) |
Contribution Type | Individual |
Details | "Nonaka's efforts to develop Drucker's thesis of knowledge worker into framework resulted in the SECI model. The model is highly appreciated in both the U.S. and Japan. It is, however, widely perceived that the model does not work well at the operational level. This problem is two-tiered. One can be referred to loose definition of tacit knowledge and unconscious perceptional difference of individual and group between the West and Japan, which comes from cultural differences and trap of psychological essentialism. The other can be referred to cycle of SECI model itself, i.e., externalization and internalization phases. This presentation puts its focus on the internalization phase and discusses how DSS can be applicable to solve the problem embedded in the internalization phase of the SECI model." |
